ONLINE PLANTUML EDITOR

Edit and explore PlantUML sequence diagrams.

Bring the source to your next review. Follow a message to its code, focus on a participant and fold away details while keeping the full diagram intact.

Free local editor. No account needed. Your diagram library stays in this browser.

PlantUML checkout sequence diagram with customer, storefront, Order API, payments and warehouse participants, including successful and declined payments.
One checkout, two outcomes. Follow payment confirmation or inspect what happens when payment is declined.

FROM SOURCE TO REVIEW

Keep the part you need in view.

Find a message in the source

Move between a supported diagram message and its PlantUML line. Keep your explanation connected to the source you can edit.

Focus on a participant

Highlight the interactions around one participant when a wide diagram makes the flow difficult to follow.

Collapse supported blocks

Fold a group or fragment to discuss the surrounding flow, then expand it for the details. Your original source stays intact.

Start with your PlantUML.

  1. Open the editor. Paste your source, import a .puml file or select a built-in example.
  2. Edit alongside the preview. Inspect participants, messages and supported branches.
  3. Follow the question you are reviewing. For checkout, trace payment confirmation and then the declined-payment branch.
  4. Take the result with you. Export a .puml backup or an SVG for your documentation.

What to know before you start.

Supported diagrams

The editor supports Sequence and Activity diagrams. Rendering and interactive navigation have limits; every PlantUML construct is not supported. Include and preprocessor directives are not supported by the local engine.

Local storage and backups

Diagrams are stored in this browser, on this device. Clearing site data can remove your library. Download .puml backups for work you want to keep.

Optional AI scenarios

AI can suggest paths through an existing supported diagram. It requires an account, credits and a supported region, and sends the diagram source to the AI provider. Review its assumptions. See plans and availability.

Required for features

Usage analytics

Off

With your permission, usage events are sent to PostHog (EU) to help improve the site.

Data, provider and retention

We collect allowlisted editor, sign-in, plan and AI interactions; fixed page categories; page duration; and only utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign labels restricted to 64 letters, digits, hyphens or underscores. Do not put personal data in campaign labels. We discard full URLs, other query parameters, referrers, advertising click IDs, original IP addresses and user agents. After consent, this tab stores a random visit identifier and the first valid campaign labels in sessionStorage. A visit expires after 30 minutes without a tracked event or 24 hours at most. Events pass through our server to PostHog EU under a random identifier separate from your account, with a minimal technical profile for deletion. No account linking, device fingerprinting, automatic click collection or session replay. Your choice lasts 180 days on this browser and origin. Withdrawal immediately stops new events, clears visit/campaign storage and requests deletion of linked history; queued is not confirmed erasure. Necessary sign-in and local diagrams continue to work. Earlier identifiers may remain only to complete deletion.
